1) Peyton is feeling MUCH better - it must have just been a little bug. Thank GOD! I hate it when my baby is sick :( It makes a mom feel so miserable to know that her baby is unhappy - something it took me 25 years to understand and 30 years to FULLY understand. I love you Mom! :)
2) Landon was SO sweet to Peyton while he was sick. Last night P had some cracker on his ear and L got on his face and said "honey, you have some cracker on your ear (took the cracker off w/his fingers) - here (putting the cracker in his mouth) - you want it?"
3) I'm halfway through "No More Tantrums" and I have to say it is really changing the way I talk to Landon, especially. I hardly ever have to raise my voice with P, but L is a different story. I think I could blow a bullhorn in his ear and he would continue doing whatever it is that he is doing that's driving me crazy. So last night I tried a different technique - I crouched down to his level and I spoke in the softest voice (while he was raging b/c he couldn't have the vitamin that he just threw on the floor) and ya know what?? HE LISTENED. He stopped crying and listened to me tell him I would give him another vitamin tomorrow night and, as long as he doesn't throw it on the floor, he can eat it! Then I diverted his attention away from the vitamin and let him pick out which fork he was going to eat his dinner with. Now, with all of that being said, I'm a Special Ed teacher. I know that what works one day is definitely not going to work EVERY day, but [and this is the point the book makes] the better my arsenal is stocked with techniques, the easier I can deal with tantrums.
Please say a little prayer for my brother-in-law (Mickey) who is in the hospital, battling a nasty infection in his leg. Thanks!
Yep, it takes having children of your own to fully understand a Mother's love! As your Dad said today, we have the most awesome children & grandchildren!!
