Elf on the Shelf 2011 - Day 1

So I must admit, even though this is our 2nd annual "Elf on the Shelf" experience, it's really our 1st because as soon as I realized the boys didn't have a clue what was going on last year, I gave up on "Buddy", our elf, and just let him sit on the shelf in the boys' room for the entire month of December. This year, however, we have already watched the Elf on the Shelf made-for-tv movie twice and the boys are super excited about seeing Buddy, our elf. They don't quite get the point of the elf, but they know that he looks just like the one they see on tv, so they love him. Thank goodness the show explains why you can't touch your elf (he'll lose his magic powers and won't be able to fly to the North Pole each night to see Santa), or else mommy would be looking all over the house each day for our sweet little friend. Since Kiki shipped Buddy to us last Christmas, I promised her I'd take pictures daily so she can keep up with our adventures. Here's Buddy watching over the boys while they watch the made-for-tv movie about "Chippey" the Elf.

And here's our Elf, Buddy, ready to greet the boys in the morning:
