A speech teacher taught me something once - when your child starts talking they're going to say "bear" when they see a bear. The way you can expand on that is to add an adjective - "that's right - that's a BROWN bear", (child) "brown bear", (parent) "that's right - that's a BIG brown bear", (child) "big brown bear", and so on and so forth. I did it with the boys tonight and they got up to 4-word phrases.....pretty good for a 2-year old, huh?! They are smart little monkeys.
Their ABC's have gotten incredibly clearer also. I keep trying to video them singing but they won't sit still long enough! They also sing really low when they know they're being video taped, so it's hard for you to hear them.
I'm already thinking about which teachers I want them to have in Kindergarten......ha.......I'm not rushing things am I??
I still think about the time when P and L were playing independently - each one doing their own thing and yet they were both singing ABC at the same time but totally unaware of what the other one was doing. P was playing with some farm toys and L was playing with some blocks. Each had their back to the other but were singing exactly the same words at the same time. Kit and I just watched in amazement for about 10 minutes while this show went on - they never looked at each other but just continued to work and sing ABC in sync with each other
ReplyDeleteDid you not learn anything?!?!? Your nephew is in the 7th grade and my "baby" is 9 years old!!!! Don't rush it!!!!! I am wanting to go back in time some days!! I love the bob builder toy!! Ahhh let me relive my past!! Hey mom do you remember the Christmas that Mark got the bob toy?? Yeah he was a brat that year!! Terrible two"s!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I remember that Christmas! Mark sat on the fireplace & pouted until he got into trouble! We hated that, sorry but we hate it when the kids (all 4) get into trouble! I'm with Kiki, don't rush it. For every year they get older, SO DO WE!!!
