No 2nd chances

We are about to start our 3rd sitter in just over 1 year's time. I am not a fan of change and I especially don't like my children having so many people come in and out of their lives - especially people who are with them more than I am. My ideal situation would be to find a nanny who loves them like they were her own. Someone who we can pick out sweet little birthday and Christmas presents for. Someone who they run to each morning and who rocks them when they're sad and reads them books when they're tired. A little ideal-sounding? Yes, but I do all of these things for my children and, since I can't be with them during the day, it would be nice to find someone to fill my shoes. These are not needs. These are wants. These are not things I am willing to fire someone over, they're just things I would like to have. Things I WILL fire someone over is 1) not keeping my children clean and 2) not keeping them safe. We fired the first sitter for reason number 1 and have now fired the 2nd sitter for reason number 2.
We interviewed a wonderful grandmother yesterday who is looking for something to do now that she no longer works and lost her husband to cancer. She seems great and I am hoping and praying this works out. Landon immediately crawled up in her lap and snuggled with her. P was a little more hesitant but didn't cry. He just takes a little longer to warm up to people. I have no idea if she is as good as she seemed yesterday - only time will tell. But I'm willing to give her a chance and see if she can handle my dynamic duo. She was very impressed at what good babies they were. She was shocked at their easy schedule, lively personalities, and wonderful naptime/bedtime routine (kiss goodnight, turn off the light, and shut the door). So we'll see how this pans out....she starts next Tuesday.
