New things are happening every day w/the boys. Just a few highlights.....we're working on body parts right now. The next time you see the boys ask them where their nose is - they'll show you. Next is belly. I love it when babies hold up their shirts to show you their tummy :) The easiest way for me to update is in true teacher form:
Gross motor - the boys are still walking along furniture. Landon has taken up to 3 steps independently. He should be walking very soon! Or running more than likely....
Fine motor - they put toys in containers and pull them out of containers, they stack blocks, play w/cars appropriately (P does anyway), look at books, and play basketball w/various objects
Communication - they say mama, dada, byebye, baby, gah for the dogs, go, kiki, pop, yay, and try to say pretty much anything you put w/a gesture (for example milk and score :)
Social - they play very well w/each other and other children. They do tend to bite when they're frustrated. We have tried everything in the book (yes EVERYTHING) to stop this but I think it's just something they're going to have to outgrow. We know the "look" when they're about to bite someone so luckily the only people who have gotten bitten pretty badly are myself, Steven, and each other.
They cry for about 2 minutes when we drop them off at the sitter or church nursery, but they seem to be fine after that. They definitely know familiar faces and will not go to strangers.
Adaptive - they sleep 12 hours a night (7pm-7am), drink from sippy cups, and will try any food but will also let you know very quickly if they don't like it. They even tried salmon the other night - P did not like it, but L did! They had veggie pizza last night and L did not like it but P did....no, I am NOT going to be one of those mothers who makes 4 different meals for 4 people. If they don't like what we're having they eat cereal. Don't judge.....their gourmet meal from the other night is posted above.
In other news, I'm back at work now. It stinks not being able to be with the boys all day, but I'm coping. I have a great group of kids this year and I know I'm doing something good in their lives, so that helps. There is NO WAY I could sit in an office all day over being with my children. But if I have to work, I definitely think I have the best job a working mom can have. I get a whole week off in October for fall break, so I'm already planning some fun things for us to do together.
I'm with you on the dinner thing. There's no way I'm going to make my child something different if he doesn't like what I cooked.
